Winter Wonderland of Color

Winter Wonderland of Color

A few months ago, we posted about the 2012 Fall Color Report as described by Pantone – the world renowned authority on color. As the season shifts into a much colder winter (for part of the world at least) what becomes of these fall color trends? I researched paint chips, fashion trends, and art and found that Pantone was pretty spot on for fall and winter spins right off the fall palette with varied shades and an addition of snowy winter whites. But my favorite “color” trend for this time of year is the introduction of my absolute favorite take on color: metallics!

The winter season brings festivities coupled with warmth, family, hot chocolate, snow, and general merriment. Though I am no Pantone, this is my interpretation of winter 2012/2013 color trends. I drew inspiration from jewel tones, holiday parties of old, Chanel Autumn/Winter 2012-13, winter recipes, Imke Klee’s “Things”, winter landscapes, A Merry Mishap, sitting by the fire, and glitter crafts. I also had fun coming up with seasonal color names!

Does this feel like winter to you? It sure makes me want to cozy up to a fire in a big sweater and listen to Ella Fitzgerald (which I’m doing at this moment … minus the fire and cozy sweater).

Happy Holidays!

Greetings from Creative! I'm Catharine, one of the Graphic Designers here at SF. I spend my days designing away and working with our amazing Marketing team to make our website and brand the best it can possibly be - and then some. I also manage the SF Pinterest. Outside of my daily routine, I enjoy art, fashion, photography, learning to ballroom dance, Muz - my diva of a cat, spending time with family and friends, cooking, and generally have a passion for all things pretty and well designed. I enjoy being over the top festive for every holiday. I have way too many shoes and it takes me months to finish reading a single book. I have the potential energy to become a DIY enthusiast - but I'm not sure that myself, the world, or my roommates are ready for it yet.
